The Family Court has changed. Does this change mediation?

In the past year, there have been a number of changes to what was the Family Court. Hoping to provide more efficient and timely resolutions to disputes, the Federal Government has merged the Federal Circuit Court and the Family Court.

This may mean that there are some procedural changes if your matter goes to court, but the current processes of Family Dispute Resolution have been left largely unchanged. If your matter is not resolved in mediation and does progress to court, you will now require an additional form from us or another practitioner that contains more details of why the matter could not be addressed in mediation.

If your dispute is within the court system, you may benefit from seeking independent legal advice. If you would like any further details on how mediation would work in your circumstances, do not hesitate to contact our office for a free fifteen minute consultation.
