Does Mediation Work?
Mediation is a process that depends on the people involved. It gives separated parents a structure to work within to make the arrangements necessary for their children’s best interests.
Does it work? Yes, it does. That does not mean that it is always perfectly smooth: what it means is that as a process, it is successful in moving forward in whatever conflict has arisen. How far and how fast negotiations can go is up to the personalities involved; some parents are able to make a number of useful arrangements, where others take more time. It is not the right process for every conflict, but it is for most parents.
There is a reason that mediation is usually required before taking children's matters to Court: it is low cost, flexible and allows parents to make arrangements that fit in with their own lives.
